The shell structure of these
rolls consists of nodular graphite and carbide with a gradual reduction of
carbide together with an increase in nodular graphite.
Rolls of this family have an
excellent spall and fire cracking resistance. due to the presence of graphite at
the roll shell surface, together with an excellent surface finish, making them suitable for rolling flat products.
The matrix of the
metallurgical microstructure of the shell of these rolls consists of pearlite in
softer grades to bainite-martensite in the harder grades.
Double poured rolls
combine wear resistance of the shell together with toughness of the core
material. Double poured rolls can be cast statically and centrifugally.
